·         Salary$15.00 to $17.00 / hour (depending on experience and/or service)

·         3 Vacancies

·         Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time; 35 to 40 hours / week

·         Start date: As soon as possible

·         Benefits: Staff & Family rates for booking rooms, 50% discount on purchases in the Restaurant and B&J Coffee Bar, 20% discount on the spa services and 20% discount in the Gift Shop, employer subsidized on-site housing is available for only $200/month for full-time employees, Kitchen team members can have a comp meal while working if required.

·         Employment conditions: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Shift, Weekend, must be able to work any shift including holidays and overtime as required

Job requirements

Languages:  English

Education: No formal education is necessary

Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in a Pastry Kitchen; Experience in a luxury hotel with comparable service and standards an asset

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate – internally offered and can be obtained upon commencement of employment,

Safe Food Handling certificate – internally offered (online) and can be obtained upon commencement of employment

Security and Safety:  Criminal record check

Transportation/Travel Information:  Own transportation, Public transportation is not available, Reliable transportation is essential unless residing in staff housing

Work Location Information: Staff accommodation available for full-time employees – subsidizing on-site housing for $200 per month.

Work Setting:  Restaurant, Resort, Banquets

Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods, Work under pressure, Attention to detail

Weight Handling:  Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills:

·        Prepare, present, and store all baked goods and desserts in the kitchen,

·        Provide leadership and direction and training to junior employees working in the Pastry Kitchen, 

·        Ensure consistent and high calibre food presentation and quality,

·        Ensure cleanliness and organization are maintained in the Pastry Kitchen,

·        Uphold food safety standards,

·        Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized,

·        Assist in the ordering and receiving of products related to baked goods and desserts,

·        Ensure daily specials and menu updates are both cost effective, high quality, and creative,

·        Participate in production for banquets for both plated service and buffets and variety of function rooms,

·        Prepare birthday and wedding cakes according to guest specifications,

·        Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods

·        Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerance,

·        Other duties as assigned
